Is 'Progress' killing humanity?

Over the years humankind has evolved and has progressed immensely based on our achievements in science and technology. We have made great inventions that make our lives much easier. Thousands of years ago we weren't thinking of air travel or using the Internet as a means of communication. Now we are at the pinnacle of success as mankind as reached its full potential when it comes to progress. Without a doubt several inventions have made our lives better, however mankind also has its evil face as they made machines to kill and wound mankind itself. The making of nuclear weapons is progress at its peak. We have now reached the level where we can now make machines to kill people en mass and have the audacity to try and justify such deeds. As human beings we have progressed so much that some of us who live in a society of these inventions couldn?t survive or would find it a real task to survive in our natural habitat. I believe that every day we are moving away from our natural state, depending on inventions and science to live. So is science the way forward or is it the medium for destruction of the human race? The logical answer to this question is that yes Science is the way forward for a chosen few people on the planet as only a few are benefiting from it. The rest of the world population are in famine, poor habitat and in violence ridden communities, caused by mankind?s aim to progress.

The majority of people on this planet are poor while the other few are reaping the benefits of the majority's hard work. One should view the world in real terms and notice that the 'Third World' countries are the ones which are feeding their resources to the wealthier countries, which they use to maintain their progressive lifestyles and at the same time developing new ways of making life more convenient...for themselves. The unfair trade policies that the first world or the 8 richest countries (G8) have on the poorer ones make this a never ending cycle. What happens is that they suffocate the poorer economies with their unfair agreements for example lend these 'poor' countries money through the IMF, (which can never be repaid) in return for exporting their own materials to these 'poor' countries which they do not want as they can produce them themselves. This will result in the halt of productivity as the local farmers or w/e will stop producing as the consumers will buy the cheaper imports from these rich countries. Subsequently the people living in these third world countries will want to move to and live in these first world countries where the progress and a better quality of life is more abundant. This means more progress as these immigrant workers will now work and make these western economies even bigger with productivity getting higher every year. So where does that leave the 'Third World' countries? Still suffering, seeking financial aid, famine, violence, unfair politics, diseases and brain drain etc. At the same time the poorest countries in the world suffering from these problems are feeding the richer countries with their natural resources. So, in real terms, which countries are really rich and which countries are really poor?

The first world countries have seen so much progress that they have enough time and funds to do research in things such as; space travel (the possibility of one day living on another planet), as the one that we are living in will soon be destroyed due to progress. At the same time they are working real hard at destroying the world with their ideologies using guns and bombs murdering human beings as well as causing famine, aids etc to achieve the task of being more progressive. So is this logical? To achieve progress in the world then the population has to diminish?

In my opinion if there weren't so much progress then we wouldn?t be worrying about things such as global warming as there wouldn't be any in the first place. 'Progress' in the 'poorer' parts of the world is way behind that of the more 'progressive' ones and it will forever be that way as the 'wealthier' countries are using these poor countries' resources such as oil and cobalt to maintain and progress on their achievements thus far. As we move from our natural state every day, we will be less spiritual and less aware of the different plains of life. This is because we are focussed only on the physical aspects of life itself. We will depend on science for everything, even to cure an illness or ailment we will run to the doctor when we should have enough knowledge as humans that we can find these cures or therapy in plants or minerals available to us naturally. To go a step further we forget that we have powers within ourselves to do several things and do not have to depend on any external force. We are led to believe that this power doesn't lie within. Maybe it's a purposeful thing whereas the ones with the power are oblivious of it and the ones that haven't are using this power through the oblivious ones. You can take this statement however you want to take it. This is exactly what progress does to mankind; it makes it real difficult for us to differentiate from what is real and what is not. With all this pollution caused by high productivity it seems as if they won't stop until the world is destroyed. So what is more important, money or well being of this planet? Common sense would tell you that the well being of this planet is more important than imaginary wealth, yet our actions shows that we believe that money is more important. Due to progress, world annihilation is getting nearer every day. This is a guarantee unless mankind stand up and take matters in their own hands and do not leave it up to a few who has a very different agenda.
