Poem : Rage on the Roads

Just another one of those days
When everything around me seems colored in shades of grey,
Is it my mindset or due to the rain?
But London's streets seem surrounded by a cloudy haze,
Walking over concrete slabs, blood-stained,
The only memory that remains
Of the fact that yet another youth got maimed
Or even killed, so many lives lost over this road rage,
And I?m not talking about the kind where a few heated words are exchanged
Over trivial driving incidents, but a new and more deadly strain
Of the disease infesting our streets with a furious hate
Where people play with lives like it's just a game,
And if another one's lost then it's all the same,
And it's such a shame that people seem to feel no shame;
Even boasting about how many shots they blazed,
How many man they sent to an early grave,
How many mothers had to cry when their son was taken away
Over post-code wars? And area names?
And no one wants to accept responsibility, always passing the blame,
No one wants to face the issues that really underlay
All the violence, and maybe take steps towards making a change
And not putting up with more and more of the same
Bloodshed, increasing day by day.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, that's what the Bible says,
So why don't we arm ourselves with information and put the guns away.
