What is the DNA database before you start to read the article, Find out more here
In a bid to catch criminals the authorities have been storing DNA profiles on criminals and potential criminals over the years. It was reported that since January 2006 another 620,000 DNA samples have been added to the government's national database.
This is nothing new as I found out a few years back that in the US the powers that be proposed to take young black males' DNA as soon as they come out their mothers wombs. Their DNA is taken just in case they grow up and commit a crime so they can be traced through their DNA and jailed with the help of DNA evidence. This is very smart indeed. However why just target the Africans as if they are the only ones committing crimes. However smart might seem, it is still a violation of privacy and a lack of respect plus the stereotyping that comes with it. They are saying that all innocent black babies will grow up to be criminals so its better to get the evidence now. I believe this is illogical as well as a plight to continue to demonise and criminalise blacks Africans.
On the other hand let's face it, young black boys are committing devious crimes and this must stop ASAP. I believe that a lot of this boils down to the parents and guardians on how they raise their children as the old saying goes 'Charity Begins at Home'. However instead of trying to lock up all criminals I believe the government should aim to prevent people from becoming criminals in the first place. This is the same government who is crying about how the prisons are overcrowded etc and they need to build more prisons to solve the problem! This shows how stupid they really are because instead of trying to help the disenfranchised people when they are young they just want to lock more and more of them away as if a potential criminal can't be 'saved'. By the rate they are going they might need another Australia to facilitate the amount of people they are convicting. I'm not saying it's up to the governments alone but they can create laws and proposals e.g. to reward families or children who show good academic abilities etc. (That just came to my head)! lol so just imagine if we sit down, think and talk properly about the situation. More indeed can and must be done. All I am saying is that we need to be looking at why these people especially children are committing these crimes en mass, then try and come up with some solutions to deter them from surrendering to crime. Predetermining someone's future even though they do not have a criminal record is just silly as it proves that the government has lost control of the very people that they are meant to govern properly. Indeed it has become a police state. Yes the government are pannicking as they ran out of ideas. Well that's how it seems to me!
According to a popular newspaper Tony Blair said he wanted to see the details of as many people as possible on the database' saying that those who were innocent had nothing to fear.
Still this DNA collating thing should not be viewed as racist or prejudiced as there are many criminals who should indeed be behind bars. However we should be looking at the bigger picture as we as a society are creating criminals like we have some sort of 'criminal industry', where we produce more and more criminals every year! We must be doing something wrong if a youngster find mugging or seriously hurting someone 'cool'.
I do hope that this DNA gathering scheme prove to be a deterrent for all criminals and potential criminals. Therefore if you are weary of your son or daughter's behaviour in the home, make it a point to tell them of this DNA collating thing as maybe they do not watch the news and might just think they can do something and get away with it (just like in the home). Intelligence should just tell us not to do anything criminal if we can help it because if we do then they might find you through DNA right?
Then again people argue that DNA doesn't work for black people as in black on black murders there are no evidence, no witnesses, camera was not working at the time, no finger prints blaaadeblaaadeblaaadeblaaaaa! while if an important person gets killed or something they will find the killer in North Korea or Taiwan in a hotel! This is something we need to look at in more detail as alife is a life no matter what race you are. However the authorities are showing us otherwise. This DNa collection thing could be a success and indeed make us feel safer but will it? DNA collating.... good or bad? Let us know.
