Yes Lewis Hamilton is world Champion! If you who watched the final moments of the final race of the 2008 formula 1 Grand Prix, you must have been nervous whether you wanted Lewis Hamilton to win or the home favourite Massa to win. Indeed Massa did win the race on his home circuit, however it is Lewis Hamilton who wins the championship for the year 2008 becoming the youngest driver to win a Grand Prix at the age of 23 and the first black Grand Prix world champion.
Exactly a year ago Lewis Hamilton missed out on the championship by two places on the very same course. If you who have visited TWRToday for a while you may have seen what I had to say about last year’s title race which Lewis Hamilton did not win.
A year on and Lewis can now say he is deservedly world champion and should be proud, those around him should also be immensley proud none more so than his father. I believe he made a lot of people proud. From the Grand Prix fans of Britain to those who did not care about the sports until Lewis Hamilton became a Grand Prix driver. He will make some other young drivers who thought they don’t have a chance to succeed at a sport as this. If Lewis can do it, indeed they will start to believe that they can. Many will say he is lucky to win the chmpionship in the final lap of the race however if you look back at his other misfortunes, you would breathe a sigh of relief as it was not easy for the world champion. For example if you watched the races throughout the year you would have seen when he won the Belgian Gran Grand Prix but to lose two places to third after he cut a corner to 'cheat' to victory. If you watched the race you would have seen how he skidded, spun round and came back to win but later downgraded two places to third. The Japanese Grand Prix was also memorable. On top of these events Lewis bore the brunt of racist abuse people from people in Spain (Spain again? football now motor sport?). I wonder what they have to say now. Lewis did not give up and I believe he became stronger because of instances such as this.
Click here to see this YouTube video link on YouTube when Lewis was really young driving his Go cart. I do hope that this will help some to get with the times and come to the realisation that prejudice is not the way forward.
I’m not going to write an essay on how Lewis Hamilton won as I believe he will win more if he continues with his team. Just want to say well done to Lewis Hamilton and we are proud of him.
