Black Dad, Bad Dad

With all my articles I can only speak from personal experience along with fact. This article is a close subject and one I feel I must share with the reader. Why do Black fathers have such a bad name? I have been very lucky, my father I have known all my life, and have been under his care up until the day I flew the nest. He has set the example for me to pass on to my children,

I can cook, clean and iron for myself these tasks I hear you ask probably inherited from my mother, No .. my Father believe it or not does his fair share of house work 'stop looking up to the sky mom you will get your praise'. This example I hope to pass on to my son. I myself became a father at the age of 21 but unfortunately I do not live with him on a day to day basis. I am very much a part of his life I see him two to three times a week looking after him on weekends. Many children are missing out on the weekends, the trips to the zoo or even kicking a ball in the park. You hear it all the time 'ahhhh his father left him as usual' .Be under no illusion it does happen but more often than not with Black Fathers Why?

It is a fact we are led by example but that's no excuse I know a number of fathers that didn't have their father around but this has made them strong role models for their children. You can't just blame the father it takes two and hell hath no fury than a woman's scorn trust me I myself have felt the wrath on more than one occasion. Mothers a woman cannot raise a man it's fact you learn how to be a man from a man, so before you push the father away think about the child and fathers before your quick exit of the child's life think about a lost 16 year old that is in a situation and needs that role models.

I am not saying you have to be together but it can work, be adults and work it through and yes compromise, don't let ill feeling between two of you and affect your offspring. A child is a blessing and no matter what, they are our future so look after them. Everything has a ripple effect and why are there so many blacks in prison? No not because we're dumb but because most are looking at 50 cents or Snoop Dogg as role model's when there own fathers are non existent.
