HERBALISM

Traditional Medicine

King Lion looks at the history and practise Of Complimentary Medicine.

A Brief History

Hippocrates is widely known as the father of medicine, legend has it that Hippocrates introduced the valuable healing properties of plants to the worldwide acceptance.

Before we proceed any further, I would like to present some truth as opposed to the sugar coated lies we have all being led to believe, history will now be corrected.

There was one who practise medicine 2000 years before Hippocrates was born, the original father of medicine was known as IMHOTEP, who lived popular around the period 2,300 BC.

His work at the time had a tremendous impact in Greece and Rome; in fact the Romans worshipped him as the Prince of peace in the form of a Black Man.

Imhoteps wisdom was embraced by King Zoser, who appointed Imhotep as his prime minister, Imhotep was also known as the foremost architect of his time, further it was Imhotep who constructed the step pyramid in saccara Egypt.

The old adage "Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die" has been traced to Imhotep and so the RESPCT DUE has now being paid to this multi - genius (setting the record straight).

Medicine of The Future:

Human beings have always had to rely on plants for their life giving properties, these herbs have never entirely disappeared in rural outpost among the indigenous population of the world, they have persisted as a poor mans alternative, science could learn and profit from the practises of folk healers, provided we do not allow this rich source of knowledge to dry up.

Our forefathers knew nothing of chemistry and pharmacology but relied entirely on natural plant power, but we have lost this ability, living as we do in this age of technology, with hurried lifestyles under pressure and stress and therefore becoming more and more remote from nature.

Valuable knowledge concerning the medicinal actions of plants was often acquired by careful observation of animal behaviour, cats and dogs for instance, cure their stomachs upsets by eating sharp grasses, while sick sheep look for Yarrow (we will look at the properties of yarrow shortly) Jackdaw keep their nests free from fleas with tomato leaves.

Man soon learned how to use natures healing powers for himself, health officials are now telling us what is supposedly good for us, and we are being force fed chemical based medication, which we accept as the norm, we live in an age where people are literally being drugged to death.

There is ample evidence that the taking of certain drugs over a period of time will induce a state of mental imbalance, drugs tend to suppress natures healing effects and deal with symptoms while the real causes remain untouched.

Side effects are produced which are often more dangerous than the disorders for which the drugs were administered, think of the horrible deformities caused to mothers having taken one of the new wonder drugs, it is a serious error to think that orthodox medicine is always right, the fact prove that it is often very wrong.

The masses are continually urged to have their children vaccinated and inoculated against this and that disease, few bother to consult the available figures which show that in some instances more deaths have been caused by the vaccination or inoculation than the disorder itself.

A celebrated medical doctor wrote: "medicine has destroyed more lives than war, famines and pestilence combined, the more medical science advances, the more doubtful and dangerous the drugs become, but on and on we go taking them without question, everything that is recommended by the chemists who are making fortunes out of death dealing man made concoctions.

On the 5th July 1995, The Times carried a supplement that reinforced my views on what goes around comes around "the story stated that there was now an impressive growth in the world of traditional herbal remedies, the various health organisations that used to condemn the use of herbal medicine are now supporting its use.

A further study states that many doctors are referring patients to alternative therapies, many patients are despondent, forever suffering the side effects of conventional medication.

Sales of herbal medicine have exceeded 62.7 million; The British Medical Association now accepts that science does not have all the answers.
