World's Most Powerful Women

In this Patriarchal age, amongst other factors such as racism and prejudice, it is astounding to know that a black woman is now regarded as the most powerful woman in the world. Yes I m talking about Condoleezza rice, Secretary of State. This lady can make crucial decisions regarding world issues and is indeed in a position to help many Africans throughout the world. That is another article in itself, however let me just state that this achievement must have been the result of hard work, dedication and that is now paying off. This black woman is fourth in line for president of the United States of America! Come on Stand up and give a round of applause! Other strong influential black women today are; my own mum of course (she influences me), Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry. All you moms who have to struggle to make ends meet, not compromising your pride and morals. These successful women came all the way from the gutter to the top of the world, outshining even the strongest black man around! Although the Oprahs and the Condoleezza's are prominent in the public eye, I must commend the strong black women who we do not hear about. The single mums, the ones who work overtime to make sure their children have a better life than themselves. The ones who understands that the system is against the black man improving in society, thus helping him towards success. The ones, who despite being poor always find a way to look fantastic, yes you!

All is not wealth!

Despite the fame and the dinero, some black women (and men) are sometimes reminded of their place in society. A typical example is when Oprah Winfrey was refused entry to the Eiffel Tower in France. It was said that the people in charge thought that she was an African immigrant and it was after store hours. This seems shocking and disrespectful however she is of the African race (black) so they are partly right she is African. There was an apology but they did it in the first place, they wouldn't have turned away the queen would they? This goes to show that racism despite its covertness goes beyond money. My dear Oprah don't let that bother you, you're rich, they're jealous.

My View on Strong Black Women

What more can I say? I love them. May we continue to see more black (African) women in society just like in Matriarchal times. They deserve all the credit and limelight they get. These women are perfect role models for the unfortunate ones who did not believe in themselves. For all you unfortunate ones, you can turn it all around. I'm sure you know some strong black women, talk to them and ask how they did it? For all you women who are not black and you went through the same struggle as them to get where you are, hold your head up, walk with pride, you are strong too. Love my mother, love my strong black women.
