Humankind has come a long way and many people have contributed to society whether they are European, Chinese, or whatever. Each race of people can say they have contributed something great to society and they should be proud of that. However there is huge problem that still exists in society and it is called yes RACISM towards the black African where everything that he does great is nullified or someone else will take the credit for. The things that us black folks and our ancestors invented are too much to remember and I wish to send you to some places on the World Wide Web to find out what Africans contributed to the world thus far. However I can remember that the traffic signal was patented by a Black American. Even Elijah McCoy, a black Canadian was a famous inventor. You would be surprised to know that this is where the term 'Real McCoy' derives from. Henry Sampson, great inventor of the 'Gamma-Electric Cell' contributed to the cellular phone is still virtually unknown today.
In society where we have all these machines PC's etc I often see in forums, video sharing networks and discussion boards how ignorant people would make coments such as: 'black people are using white people's Internet to talk about issues'. When I see comments like this I just laugh as as first and foremost no one person or race is responsible for the Internet, however what I can say that a black man is arguably the biggest contributor towards the Internet thus far. His name is Phillip Emeagwali. I bet some people don't even know about Imhotep?
Africans has contributed a whole lot to society we live in. If this is not strength, courage and genius then they really need to give a new meaning to the very word 'genius'. We cannot hide from truth as the truth always come out somehow. To know about inventions we must do reasearch (READ!)on people such as: Imhotep who was an black Egyptian genious.We must not be surprised that people with old racist ideologies will do anything to dishonour black-Africans and demonise them. When they say or do anything to make Africans seem useless we just need to ignore their ignorance and keep inventing more things and getting on with our own lives. A sad fact but very true This mindset is slowly coming to an end as more and more people are realising that someone's colour should not be enough to judge their character. I believe that future generations of different nationalities and races will be able to honour and respect anyone that has invented something great to civilisation.
