Latinmania- A New Fusion

For over twenty years the South American population has grown every year. If you were to go to Elephant and Castle you might think for a second that you are either in Colombia or Ecuador due to the great amount of restaurants, shops and even a whole shopping centre with travel agencies, music shops and a warm Latin atmosphere. In North, East and West London you can always find many different South American businesses and each year there are two or three big carnivals. So with an estimated 200,000 Latinos in London one question springs to mind. Why is there no Latin Radio Station or even a Latin Show on FM? Few have tried and failed. Two applications for Radio Licences were recently handed into OFCOM but both fell at the first hurdle and were turned down by OFCOM (The Radio Authority).

Due to the decline in support for these projects many people lost faith in the hope that there would never be a Latin show on FM. But with little or no support one show has managed to accomplish something different. LATINMANIA has not only become the first Latin legal FM show but also the first show Ever to be spoken in Spanish and English which fusioned together is 'Spanglish'. This provides the opportunity for not only the Spanish listeners to enjoy the show but everyone else that tunes in.

Thanks for the opportunity provided by TLS Radio a community radio station based in South London, LATINMANIA is breaking barriers and providing the hottest rhythms from Salsa to Reggeaton whilst also promoting local services to the Latin Community. Although TLS have been allocated a one month licence LATINMANIA is a project which will continue on other stations and also with it's new website providing the biggest interviews and keeping everyone up to date with the latest events. The fight to have a permanent Radio Show or Station continues and LATINMANIA is determined to lead the way and thanks TWRToday for its support.

LATINMANIA can be heard every Tuesday from 6pm and Saturday's from 1pm on TLS 101.4 FM
