You may see it on the news or hear on the radio that there is a wave of African people are finding their way to Europe via Spain. They often arrive on Spanish beaches in makeshift boats, some alive but some severely dehydrated and hungry and some dead, never reaching their destination alive. I had the opportunity to visit the Canary Islands and saw firsthand these refugees who sometimes ended up as vendors on the island, selling products to send money for the families back home. This is a serious problem for the Spanish government and they are looking to solve this problem by sending troops to Northern Africa to bombard the Africans, preventing them from entering Spain as the current high fences and soldiers in North Africa is not a deterrent for these people. I find this event very interesting and will try to highlight the reasons for this voyage from Africa.
Economically speaking the continent of Africa is known to have some of the poorest countries in the world, where there is widespread poverty due to several man-made reasons. There are well-known problems due to 'outside factors' as the people did not bring these epidemics on themselves. These problems started to occur since the first wave of foreigners entered Africa seeking a better life. All was well for a while until the continent was overruled, divided and colonised by several foreign nations. Thousands of years after and the world's richest continent is still being raped for its resources and left to die and we continuously take from the continent. It seems that Africa is a very difficult place to live if you are an average black person. For example South Africa, despite its growth is rife with crime as it is often the poor blacks who are living in poor conditions. Some will often steal for a living due to unemployment or drugs. Morals are often lost as the urge to survive is often the biggest problem. Countries such as Zimbabwe, Somalia, Uganda, Kenya and Niger are only a few examples of how Africa is left in repugnance and horror. There seems to be never ending violence in some African states than anywhere else on earth. For some reason I cannot fathom, Africa is being helped with vast imports of guns and ammunition. I doubt if one gun is made on this huge continent. Famine is not uncommon, neither is that man-made disease that kills thousands everyday. I wonder why these Africans want to leave their homeland?
The annoyance of several Africans turning up everyday on Spanish beaches such as the Canary Islands, some alive, some dead of dehydration is proving to be a huge problem for the Spanish government. The holiday makers will definitely see this as a nuisance and very upsetting to see the reality of some Africans before their very eyes. Tourism is very important to Spain, furthermore these Africans could indeed stress out the benefits system. Another irritant that the Africans might bring with them is the dreaded AIDS VIRUS. In the long run the Africans could indeed bring poverty to Europe thus slowly destabilising it. These could the worries of the Spanish goverment and other European countries and they aim to solve this problem by sending soldiers to Africa to keep the Africans in, thus making them stay in poverty.
It is a well known 'fact' that Africa has huge debt, however if one looks deeper in the state of affairs they will realise that it is the outside world that owes Africa. They take Africa's raw materials; diamonds, gold, materials to make cds, dvd, sim cards etc at ridiculously cheap prices (free). Drain them of their qualified people, take this, take that and at the end of all that we say Africa owes them?
The crisis of Africans dying to reach Europe for a better life, can be stopped only if Africa is restored with good infrastructure. Instead of charities, why not create jobs. Start projects to build real buildings, real schools, and real supermarkets so that they can feed themselves. Make Africans want to stay in their homeland! Caging them in Africa with troops will not help the situation. Stop exporting products to them that they themselves can produce. Encourage self-reliance. Although it is the biggest help for the continent yet, Africans world wide sending money home is just not enough. I reiterate that guns will not help the situation. Is this a deliberate thing? I think so. Africa can help itself if we stop stealing from it to better our own selves. What is killing Africa right now is the big economy countries sucking Africa dry like mosquitoes for their resources for example Shell the petrol company have their own oil depot in Nigeria. Who is getting all the proceeds of the oil coming out of Nigeria? Is the locals benefiting from this? What is happening to Africa? The money is flowing out of Africa more than it going in. In Africa's current state, corruption is inevitable, as the puppet governments will selfishly steal the people's money.
Until Africa gets such help and other countries and companies stop stealing from Africa, I believe Africans will be forever risking their lives to make it to Europe. After all they are only seeking to live comfortable lives. It is only natural for people to gravitate to the places where the 'wealth' is. The same thing happened in the past when other nations went to Africa as pilgrims to seek better living conditions. As Africans are being stifled in their own countries due their economies not favouring them reaching their potential or at least eating at least three times a day, it is only right for them to go to places where they can have better lives.
For the record Africa is a rich and beautiful place and many people who are not African are actually relocating and setting up houses and businesses in there. I believe a change is needed in the psyche? of all Africans inside and outside of Africa to come together unselfishly to alleviate the common problems which are forcing them to leave their homeland as it only us who can make things better for ourselves. Once this is done then all the other issues will eventually fade away.
