Are we all in Lala land?

Entertainment has always been apart of human nature. However, now more than ever we are dependent on mediums such as; television programs and the Internet as part of our everyday lives. It would be really interesting to see what happens if those things are taken away from our households. No MTV Base, No soap operas, no cartoons, no video games. What would we do? To be honest I myself would find it difficult to actually go a week without anyone of those things. It just proves that we are programmed to like/use those things without even thinking of their importance. We just accept it as a way of life. For example we get up in the morning we switch on the TV or radio, to know of the latest news, or sports. Then on our way to work we might pick up a newspaper to read the latest events on what is going on around us. We will find ourselves doing this everyday not knowing why. We read, see and hear the same news stories and obviously they are true! A very wise man once said think, from the moment you wake up in the morning to the time you go to sleep, count the things which you did by yourself. Most of the things we do are automatic; we do these without even thinking twice in what we are doing.

To go a step further I was on the bus a few months ago and I heard a girl talking on her mobile phone loudly. She sounds really upset about something telling her friend how someone got shot and how she is sad and doesnt know if the police will find the killer etc. Then after a while I found out she was talking about a SOAP OPERA!!! I was like ****! I thought someone really died as you know these crimes are reported on TV at least every week! She looked genuinely sad and was indeed upset about the situation, which shows how we are caught up in television programs and music etc. We will then watch the latest music videos and buy the latest gossip magazines to see what the stars are up to. We will watch MTV cribs to see their mansions, while we are is less than favourable conditions. Seeing things like this will send us in la la land and forget about the reality of the people without houses. While we are in lala land the people in charge of the society will do whatever they want without us knowing or realising what is taking place in front of our very eyes. We will simply ignore the real issues and believe what's put infront of us as it must be right as it is in the news papers and the television news etc which are reporting it. What is more frightening is the things going on which you do not know about. We will watch the build up to an upcoming election without knowing the opposition and the leading party is just a front and they work with the same agendas and for the same people.

As most of us work 9-5, I do understand that we need to relax and take some time away from work, however the fact is who we are working for is the same system that slavery was built on. One side of the world there is productivity and progress while the other side of the world is full of famine and diseases however we can't see that as we are in lala land. We are even locked up in our own philosophies and our own worlds to see the bigger picture.
